Frequently Asked Questions
Using JOYCart
Can I bring it on a flight?
Tell the airline in advance that you use a handle-type electric wheelchair. Procedures for removing the battery, checking or carrying it in the cabin, and transferring to an airport or aircraft wheelchair vary by airline, aircraft and route, so please follow the airline's instructions.
JOYCart battery specifications may vary depending on the manufacturing and shipping date. When travelling by air, check the rated capacity (Wh) printed on the battery installed in your unit and provide that information to the airline in advance.

Long-term care insurance (Japan)
Can I use long-term care insurance?
Some products are eligible for rental under Japan's long-term care insurance system. TAIS codes: JOYCart Mobile-X 00971-000008; JOYCart LUCE / LUCE WALK+ (Lieto Luce) 02050-000006.
For eligibility under Japan's long-term care insurance system, please note the following.
· First, consult the elder welfare department at your local municipal office.
· They will review your situation and discuss your care-level certification and eligibility for the relevant product. Please follow their instructions, which may include submitting an opinion letter from your physician.
Even with a care-level certification, rental is only available where it is judged necessary. A designated care manager will be assigned as your point of contact — discuss any daily-life difficulties with them, especially around getting out for shopping or errands, and tell them that you would like to use a handle-type electric wheelchair and discuss the appropriate product with your care manager and welfare-equipment provider. If approved, you can rent it through a welfare equipment lending provider for a monthly fee, with a copayment of 10% (or 30% depending on income).
*Please note that even after applying, we may be unable to accommodate your request depending on your physical condition.
